This intensive taught course helps design professionals and graduates to deepen skills and experience within the jewellery industry through the support of leading international contemporary designers and academics. The Department has the widest range of specialist facilities in Europe for silversmithing and jewellery. This course aims to foster advanced practical and creative design skills relevant to commercial jewellery production. Students are encouraged to develop an individual design philosophy to sustain a portfolio of design practice. Students will evaluate the local and global language of jewellery and fashion design and consider ways of engaging new audience and product opportunities.
The University's unique location on the East London City fringe provides a dynamic creative community. Most members of the teaching staff are practising artists and designers and we enjoy the support of high-profile, artists, designers and manufacturers. The course includes seven core modules, live project work and design report development. Modules include:

Assessment
You are supported through a 'laboratory' model of learning; developing innovative design, conceptual thinking, professional understanding and aesthetic sensitivity. You present design work and reports for assessment and exhibition throughout the course.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testSuccessful applicants normally hold an Honours degree within design and have a relevant design portfolio. Those with relevant professional qualifications and/or extensive professional design experience will also be considered.
