Chemistry is offered as a joint programme shared between Graz University of Technology and Karl-Franzens-University In the framework of the NAWI Graz project.
It lasts four semesters and consists of one stage of study. The master’s programme deepens the knowledge learnt in the Chemistry bachelor’s programme (6 semesters). The whole programme comprises 120 ECTS credits.
The aim of the master’s programme is to acquaint students with the ability to carry out high-quality, structured research work and to develop innovative systems on a scientific basis in field of chemistry. Graduates are awarded the degree of Master of Science (MSc).
Working as a Chemist
A master's degree in the field of chemistry opens the door to a variety of interesting activities in different branches. These include research and analysis, management and quality control, and basic and advanced education.
Chemists often find good job opportunities in the chemicals and pharmaceutical industry, foodstuffs and extractive industry, pulp and paper industry, biotechnology, and petroleum industry. Environmental technology counts today among the classical fields of work of chemists: from waste management, containment of contaminants, urban water management, plastics and climate engineering to recycling.
