After an introduction to the climatic forces which affect buildings, there are modules which focus on specific aspects of building performance, providing an opportunity for the acquisition of both academic foundation and practical skills in the evaluation of building performance by simulation:
* The calculation of daylight availibility, incident solar radiation, shading/overshadowing effects and artificial lighting.
* The thermal performance of buildings and the pivotal role played by computational analysis tools in achiveing efficiency and comfort
* The simulation and analysis of ventilation and air flow through and around buldings
* The appropriate use of mechanical services and buildings, and appropriate methods for their assessment.
Special Features of this course:
* The School is among the leading developers of computer modelling software.
