The programme "Advanced Materials and Processes" offers talented students an interdisciplinary Master´s degree course with international orientation. The course focuses on the transfer of engineering insight to materials development and process engineering. It started in the winter term 2005/2006 and is offered by the universities of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Bayreuth and Würzburg. Successful students will be awarded a "Master of Science with honours".
The two-year Master course will not only offer an outstanding interdisciplinary program. Students will also learn key competences for strengthening personality such as presentation techniques, conflict management, creativity, project management and personnel management. This should be an excellent preparation for an executive position in professional life.
Recognizing that new materials play an increasingly important role in the processes of chemical and bioengineering, this elite degree course brings together the disciplines of Materials Science and Chemical and Bioengineering. On the one hand, technical knowledge of materials is of great importance for a seminal education in chemical and bioengineering. On the other hand, new materials are more and more derived from processes of particle technology and biological or chemical process technology. It is therefore essential to network these two disciplines. Therefore this programme offers to students a modular curriculum with following key aspects:

More informationPrerequisites for the Elite Graduate Program "Advanced Materials and Processes" are the completion of an excellent bachelor degree or equivalent in Chemical and Bioengineering, Materials Science or related subjects as well as an admission granted by the Admissions Committee of the course. Successful students will be awarded a "Master Sc. with honors".
Applicants should belong to the top 10 % of their year or have a degree with an overall grade better than 1.9 according to the German grading system. Degrees which are graded according to different grading system must demonstrate a predicate which is at least comparable with the predicate "good".
Advanced English skills are mandatory as the first two semesters are taught in English. In case English is not your mother tongue formal qualification in English must be demonstrated by a TOEFL Score of at least 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based) or an equivalent English recognized test.
