The MA programmes are available as full-time courses, lasting one academic year, or as part-time courses over two academic years (or as distance-learning courses of negotiable length).
If you wish to take only part of the MA programme, you may qualify for a University of Wales Certificate by completing 60 units in the taught modules of the programme, or a University of Wales Diploma by completing 120 units in the taught modules. It is not always necessary to be a graduate to be considered for entry into either the Certificate or Diploma courses; we operate considerable flexibility in this area.
This is a flexible scheme, designed to allow candidates to pursue their own particular interests as far as possible within a broader context. Candidates may combine modules from a number of schemes for a general MA. Students can also specialise in Medieval History.
Scheme of Study and Assessment All candidates for the MA must take 180 credits. 60 credits will be in the form of core modules. A further 60 credits will be in the form of optional modules. A final 60 credits, for those who pass the taught part of the course, will take the form of a dissertation of approximately 20,000 words, on a subject to be agreed between the candidate and the course director.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testA good standard of education and a first degree in a relevant subject is usually required for entry to a Master´s programme.
International students applying for study at postgraduate level will normally be required to show evidence of sufficient command of the English language to be able to follow their course, undertake research and produce writing without major linguistic difficulties. For example, this is usually the Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency Certificate, IELTS minimum score of 6.5, TOEFL minimum score of 575.
