The programme Master of Science in Automotive Engineering focuses on all disciplines within Automotive Systems Engineering, including conception, development, design and construction and the manufacturing process of vehicles. The lectures, seminars and workshops are directly influenced by the ongoing research at the RWTH Aachen University, thus ensuring an up-to-date and innovative curriculum. The Master programme particularly aims to enhance the students’ ability to lead and coordinate project teams and to strengthen their skills in scientific documentation and communication.
The programme "Automotive Engineering" consists of compulsory and elective courses. The compulsory courses cover the fundamentals of Automotive Engineering and include lectures such as Automotive Engineering, Internal Combustion Engine Fundamentals, Production Management, Quality Management, Machine Design Process and Tribology.
Elective courses are chosen from a list of subjects, such as the Dynamics of Machines, Fundamentals of Light Weight Design, Industrial Engineering, Ergonomics and Work Organisation, Internal Combustion Engines, Laser Technique (Process) or Manufacturing Technology.
In addition to the course work, students of Automotive Engineering must also complete the following:
* A German language course
* A nine-week industrial internship
* A study-integrated mini-thesis
* A four-month Master thesis.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Formal Entrance Requirements
A candidate should have a recognised first degree (Bachelor of Science or Engineering) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, such as Automotive, Aerospace or Energy Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial or Production Engineering, awarded by an internationally recognised university-level institution.
Candidates should have also performed above average in their undergraduate studies and should be able to speak and write fluently in English (TOEFL 550 paper-based/213 computer-based or IELTS 6.0). The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is also required.
Special Entrance Requirements
This programme is appropriate for both engineers coming from industry as well as those coming directly from university. Candidates should be able to apply their knowledge of mathematics and science and engineering to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems. In addition, candidates should be able to design a particular system, component, or process to meet desired needs, as well as to prepare and perform experiments in a laboratory environment.
