Location of Cardiff University

In-service students should have access to and be able to arrange 120 teaching hours over a period of 2 years. Attendance at University will be required from 3pm to 8pm each Wednesday.

The aim of the programme is to enable you to explore, build on and further develop the professional skills needed for successful teaching and training in post-compulsory education. In achieving this aim, the course draws upon and works around the professional experiences of our respective course members.

Special Features:
* Endorsed by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) until 2013. All the scheme programmes offer a pathway to QLTS award, following the successful completion.
* The School offers long established (over 30 years) University-based Teacher Training courses in Post-Compulsory Education & Training.
* The School of Social Sciences is the only PGCE (PCET) provider in England and Wales rated ‘excellent’ for its teaching and research.

Requirements

Candidates must be actively involved in training or education as a work role or in a voluntary capacity.

PGCE Undergraduate Level 6 applicants should possess a professional qualification together with relevant professional experience.

In line with Cardiff University’s English Language Policy all UK applicants are required to hold GCSE English (or equivalent) at grade C or above. Applicants whose first language is not English must obtain a British Council IELTS score of at least 6.5 or equivalent prior to commencement of the course.

Note: International students pursuing part-time programmes of study are not eligible for Tier 4 (General Student) visas and must have alternative leave to remain in the UK if they intend to study at the University in person.
