The Master in TCCM must ensure:
1. Access to further education: A Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling gives access to PhD studies in chemistry, physics, life sciences, or materials sciences, which can help students become lecturers in university or researchers in a research organisation.
2. A professional status (where applicable): As experts in computational techniques, professionals will be prepared to apply any scientific code available in the market or to develop new codes.
Their skills are suitable for the design of molecules, atomic and molecular aggregates, and processes. They are good candidates for posts on the pharmaceutical industry, petrochemical companies, and new materials firms and their profile enables them to work in any company as computation experts.
The maximum number of students is restricted to 12 in Valencia university.
NOTE: The information provided is subject to possible modifications, derived from the harmonization process of the European university systems required by the EHEA. (Bologna Declaration)
SPECIAL REMARKS:
* Languages:
* Spanish: national part of modules M1 (first year) and M2 (second year)
* English: international part of modules M1 and M2
* Starting date: * October (module M1)
* (* The intesive course of M2 can take place before october )
The TCCM Master is articulated in 120 ECTS.
The 1st year of the Master is arranged locally at the member University, but it has the same basic structure in all Institutions of the consortium. In the first year the student must attend courses and pass related exams for 60 ECTS . These courses will provide the student with the background necessary to follow the second year of the Master, which has a marked International research character.
M1 course:
MODULE 1(15 ECTS) Levelling
* - A levelling course addressed to students that need to upgrade their level in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. Students cannot be admitted to the Master if they need to upgrade their knowledge in more than two areas.
* - A second european language (5 ECTS)
MODULE 2(15 ECTS)Fundamentals
* - Mathematics (5 ECTS).
* - Quantum Chemistry Methods and Statistical Mechanics (10 ECTS).
MODULE 3(6 ECTS)Technics
* - Computational Techniques and Numerical Methods.
MODULE 4(9 ECTS)Applications
* - Symmetry in atoms, molecules and solids and Quantum Mechanics: 9 ECTS.(Significant contents in basic reaction dynamics).
MODULE 5(30 ECTS ) corresponds to eligible or semi-optional courses devoted to complement the training in different areas of chemistry, where the application of theoretical chemistry is useful or required. This module is adapted to the conditions at each university
The 2nd year
M2 course:
MODULE 5 (15 ECTS) Advanced aspects.
* -Advanced theory of electronic structure anbd condensed matter (9 ECTS)
* -Advanced computational techniques.
MODULE 6 (15 ECTS) Advanced modelling and applications.
* -Chemical and molecular dynamics and computational simulation and modelling (9 ECTS)
* -Applications (One among the matters offered each year at the international course).
MODULE 7 (30 ECTS) Master Thesis.
* - Research activity associated with a co-tutored thesis work.
Important note: MODULES 5 and 6 are associated with a 4-week International Intensive Course and 10 weeks of tutorial related home work. This course is organized each year in a different country on a rotating basis. MODULE 7 is devoted to introductory research work, part of which (a minimum of 18 ECTS) is to be developed abroad, in a laboratory of a Institution of the Consortium.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testTHE ADMISSION CRITERIA are common to all institutions of the consortium. The application files should be sent to the coordinating Institution and will be examined by the International Committee of the Master.
* -The consortium aims to admit highly qualified students from a wide range of countries including Europe, America, Africa and Asia.
* -Bachelor in Chemistry, Physics or Material Science, or any equivalent level if authorized by the legislation of the corresponding European Country. Other scientific bachelors can be accepted, provided the student takes complementary levelling courses, under the supervision of his local Tutor.
* -Internationally recognised English proficiency certificate equivalent to a TOEFL score of minimum 500/213, or an IELTS score of 6
* -Interested students coming from third countries or having a Bachelor different from those mentioned above, are adviced to consult the conditions established in the web of the international TCCM master:
