The MA in Media production at the University of Wales, Lampeter offers students a unique opportunity to develop practical skills in a wide range of media.
A compulsory module in research methods provides students with the skills necessary for the thorough planning of their Final Project at MA level, while introducing key principles of media production that will be beneficial in all modules. Students then choose a further three modules from a variety of option modules
The course can be taken over one-year full time study or two years part time, with additional time available for the completion up of the Masters Dissertation if required. The full time taught programme runs over two terms leading to a Postgraduate Diploma, with the opportunity to progress to MA level by completing a self-directed project over term three and the summer period. For part time students this timetable is doubled. A January start date is also available.
Mature students without conventional academic qualifications, but with relevant experience, are encouraged to apply. Each application is assessed on its own merits. All students will be encouraged and supported in acquiring vocational experience within a suitable working environment.

Writing for Media Pathway
In conjunction with the Department of English, we offer students the chance to pursue a pathway through the MA which puts a particular emphasis on developing practical and academic skills in writing for the media. As well as taking relevant modules within the Department of Film and Media students will be able to select modules from the English Department which cover subjects such as Creative Writing and Writing for Radio. Further details are available from the MA co-ordinator.

Additional modules are also offered by other Departments. These are subject to availability, credit weighting, and in some cases prerequisite modules. If you are planning to elect for one of these we suggest that you talk your options through with your personal tutor.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testA good degree and evidence of an interest in the subject area, but each application is judged on its own merits.
International students applying for study at postgraduate level will normally be required to show evidence of sufficient command of the English language to be able to follow their course, undertake research and produce writing without major linguistic difficulties. For example, this is usually the Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency Certificate, IELTS minimum score of 6.5, TOEFL minimum score of 575.
