The MA in Screen Studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter offers students a unique opportunity to marry together the academic study of audiovisual media with vocational practice in film/video/television production and new media.
The flexibility of the course structure allows students to combine these two pathways or to steer their programme of study more towards one or the other. A compulsory module 'Theory and Practice' provides students with the skills necessary for the successful completion of their dissertation at MA level and introduces theoretical approaches to the study of film and media beneficial in all modules. Students can choose a further three modules from a variety of optional units.
The course can be taken over one-year full time study or two years part time, with additional time available for the writing up of the dissertation if required. The full time taught programme runs over two terms leading to a Postgraduate Diploma, with the opportunity to progress to MA level by completing a dissertation over term three and the summer period. For part time students this timetable is doubled.
Mature students without conventional academic qualifications, but with relevant experience, are encouraged to apply. Each application is assessed on its own merits.

Further details are available from the MA co-ordinator.
Alternative Modules
Additional modules are also offered by other Departments. These are subject to availability, credit weighting, and in some cases prerequisite modules. If you are planning to elect for one of these we suggest that you talk your options through with your personal tutor.
