This course is a specific pathway within the Social Archaeology Diploma/MA. It explores and critiques theoretical frameworks underpinning social archaeology, while at the same time allowing students to specialise in the Bronze Age of the East Mediterranean (Cyprus, the Aegean world and the Levant). It examines diverse themes, ranging from identity, cultural politics, cultural interaction, and anthropolgical perspectives on ancient art.

The course is suitable for students considering a professional career in archaeology or who may wish to proceed to a Doctoral degree. It is also equally open those who would like to study the subject for their own personal fulfillment.

The Prehistory of the East Mediterranean and the Levant is taught by internationally-recognised specialists in the discipline. The course is taught as a series of background lectures, but with a strong emphasis on seminars. Both the University Library and the Department have excellent collections of relevant reading material.
