A minimum of seven subjects are studied. These are selected from the topics currently offered by the school and include the following areas: Research Methods, Social Psychology, Biological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Abnormal Psychology and Developmental Psychology and Perception.
The candidates' options are selected together with the Course Tutor, and must be approved by the Board of Studies in Psychology. Practical work is also required.

This is a nine month full-time course, which recruits approximately fifteen students per year. An information pack, including an application form, is available from the Course Secretary. Informal enquiries can be made to the Course Co-ordinator, Prof Mark Good (email: Good@cardiff.ac.uk).

Assessment:

Assessment is by University examinations, held at the end of each semester; there is a one, two or three-hour written paper in each of the chosen subjects. Practical work and essays must also be completed satisfactorily. A candidate who successfully completes the examinations and coursework is awarded the Cardiff University Graduate Diploma in Psychology.

Special Features:
This course is designed to bring graduates with some training in psychology to the level required to meet the Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society. Candidates who reach this level are able to enrol for MSc courses in a variety of disciplines within psychology.
