The Graduate Diploma in Dance is a one-year, part time programme of study which aims to promote dance culture and enable students to better participate in the art of dance in Ireland. The modules are designed to offer a range of experiences in dance in different contexts and to increase the range and depth of knowledge and understanding of those contexts. At the same time the Graduate Diploma in Dance enables participants to acquire the necessary skills to develop, plan and deliver dance from Primary level to LCPE as well as stimulating the creation of specific teaching programmes from outside the formal education system. The Graduate Diploma in Dance is thus open to a diverse range fo applicants who wish to further their own professional development in dance.
At the end of year 1 there is the opportunity to progress to the Masters Degree which offers the opportunity to research in depth an area of dance that relates to any of the areas covered in the Graduate Diploma and that might continue to progress a student's professional development. Those wishing to extend their study to Masters level will be expected to meet the University's entry requirements by achieving the appropriate grades for the Graduate Diploma in Dance.
