The aim of the Master in Economics programme is to prepare participants for a successful professional career in high ranking positions in industry, research, consulting, finance, international agencies and the public sector. Students are endowed with broad intellectual and analytical skills, in demand in all sectors of the economy, and with specific professional knowledge, of value in many organisations and firms.
The Master in Economics programme focuses on imparting a profound knowledge of state-of-the-art theoretical and empirical approaches in economics. Participants gain a deep understanding of interdependencies between economic, social and political processes.
The M.Sc. in Economics programme has a flexible, modular structure suiting students with applied and/or research-orientated interests. It allows for a significant amount of specialization in line with individual abilities and interests next to the mandatory basic courses.
The strong interaction between teaching faculty, external speakers and students, as well as the small group size guarantee a stimulating academic environment. The programme provides participants with soft skills through intensive team work, project assignments, and communication.
The official language of the programme is English, yet a range of courses are offered in German.
The Master programme allows for a significant amount of specialisation in line with individual abilities and interests next to mandatory basic courses. It has a flexible and modular structure suiting students with research-orientated and/or applied interests.
Participants choose 4 major fields in economics (including 2 seminars) from a selection of 11 modules offered: Econometrics, Economic History and History of Economic Thought, Environmental Economics, Growth Economics, Industrial Organization and Competition Theory, Innovation Economics, International Trade, Labour Economics, Markets and Consumption, Money and Employment, Public Finance.
Additionally, one large elective or 2 small electives from a broad range of courses in business administration, economics, law, or social sciences will be chosen.
In the final semester, students take part in a Master colloquium while writing their master thesis.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
