Not only is Barcelona a leading city in the European economic and business arenas, it has also become a very important cluster for research in Economics. This makes it an ideal city for post-graduate studies.
The city has seven universities, with more than 200,000 students. It is a favorite destination for Erasmus Program students from universities all over Europe. It is also a hub of graduate education, as the city is home to numerous research institutions and top-ranked business schools.
Barcelona's scientific and technological park has been instrumental in the development of university-company relationships, as well as the promotion of research and development. The city is clearly an attractive meeting point for international students and professors, who are rapidly becoming ambassadors of Barcelona worldwide.
A leading scientific community
The core strength of the Barcelona GSE is our commitment to the highest standards of scientific research in Economics. The Economics and Business Department of the UPF, the Economics and Economic History Department of the UAB, and the IAE (CSIC) have been repeatedly recognized as pioneering institutions in economic research in Europe and in the world. We conduct research in macroeconomics, microeconomics, applied and empirical Economics, and publish regularly in the leading journals. For these reasons, the city of Barcelona has emerged as one of the main economic research clusters in Europe and, thus, represents an ideal developmental environment for Barcelona GSE's post-graduate activities.
