The University of East Anglia (UEA) is an internationally renowned university based in a campus that provides top quality academic, social and cultural facilities to over 13,000 students.
UEA is ranked amongst the top three for student satisfaction according to the first National Student Survey and in the top 20 in the UK by the Sunday Times. It also came top of the most recent research effectiveness league table published by Research Fortnight.
Located in 320 acres of rolling parkland but just two miles from the centre of the cathedral city of Norwich the University is adjacent to the Norwich Research Park which is home to over 1,000 scientists working in several world ranked institutions.
Sporting facilities on campus include the University Sportspark which houses an Olympic sized swimming pool and regularly hosts international sporting events. UEA also has the world famous Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and hosts an International Literary Festival which has included famous names such as Ian McEwan and Kazuo Ishiguro (both alumni of UEA's Creative Writing course).

Services & Facilities
The University of East Anglia boasts a wide range of campus facilities and services ranging from the Sportspark – Britain’s largest indoor sports centre - to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, as well as accommodation, shops, banks, a health centre, chaplaincy, nursery, Students Union, and Norfolk’s largest library.

The university campus is home to eight en-suite residences and four non en-suite residences, namely Norfolk and Suffolk terraces also known as the ziggurats, and Orwell and Wolfson Close. The en-suite University Village residences are a ten-minute walk away. The University also manages Mary Chapman Court, a hall of residence located in Norwich city centre.
Broadview Lodge is the on-campus B&B facility for visitors to UEA. We have 76 en-suite rooms, all equipped to hotel standards. All rooms have flat screen tvs and tea and coffee making facilities. Careers Centre
The Careers Centre provides impartial information, advice, support and guidance for undergraduates, graduates, post graduates, researchers, staff, researchers and employers, covering everything from further study to professional training.
As well as regular careers fairs, training workshops, and one-to-one guidance, the service has recently opened an Employability drop-in centre on The Square to help students and graduates find student employment, volunteering opportunities and graduate level careers.
Catering facilities
Restaurant facilities on campus provide everything from a simple coffee and sandwich to a full meal at eateries Blend, Zest, Vista, Café Direct and the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts Gallery Cafe. Fresh, locally sourced and Fairtrade ingredients are encouraged and used wherever possible to create balanced and nutritious meals for a range of tastes and dietary requirements.
Chaplaincy
UEA Chaplaincy provides a centre for quiet reflection, worship and conversation between students and staff of all faiths or none. Facilities include a large Common Room with easy chairs and a kitchen, a Quiet Room for individuals or small groups to spend time in contemplation or prayer, and a large Meeting Room for group meetings and religious services.
Prayer facilities for Muslim students are available in the UEA Islamic Prayer Centre on campus.
Counselling
The University Counselling Service aims to enable students to achieve their academic and personal goals by providing confidential counselling and support for any difficulties encountered while at UEA. A confidential service for staff is also offered for those looking for assistance with personal or work related problems.
Disabled facilities
The University is committed to promoting a positive attitude to disabled people and to creating the conditions in which all students can participate fully in the academic, social and recreational life of the University.
The campus is generally accessible although wheelchair users sometimes have to take an alternative route. The University has a rolling programme of improvements to existing facilities and aims to incorporate high standards of disabled access into all new buildings.
University accommodation caters for a range of needs with well designed rooms for wheelchair users, students with allergies and breathing problems, and hearing impairment. Carers can also be accommodated and assistance dogs are welcome.
IT and Computing
UEA’s Information Services provide a wide range of IT services including campus internet access via a wireless network and in student residences.
As well as the 24-hour IT centre based in the Library, there are a range of study spaces and teaching labs in the IT and Computing Service (ITCS) building and elsewhere on campus.
Specialist equipment such as scanners, colour printers and work stations specially equipped to meet the needs of users with mobility problems or visual impairment are also offered.
LCR and Waterfront
The 1,550 LCR venue on campus attracts touring bands and artists as well as regular club nights. High profile performers include Lily Allen, Calvin Harris, The Killers, The Ting Tings, The Enemy, The Streets, Primal Scream, Jack Penate, and Maximo Park.
Meanwhile the Waterfront, based in the city centre, has attracted acts including CSS, MGMT, Noah and the Whale, Foals and the Futureheads, and holds regular club nights.
The campus library contains more than 800,000 books and journals, as well as extensive collections of specialist materials. 15,000 new titles are added to its stock each year.
The recently extended facility is open seven days a week during semesters, and until midnight six days a week during semesters. The library also provides a 24-hour IT area, with more than 260 computers for students to use.
Also situated in the library is the Library and Resources Centre (LaRC) – a valuable space for staff and research postgraduates to think, meet, learn and access resources that enhance and support the University's staff development activities.
Medical Centre
The purpose-built campus Medical Centre provides a full range of medical services for students who register as patients. In addition to general practice services, the Centre provides a range of specialist clinics and visiting practitioners.
There is also a pharmacy on campus and a dental service offering NHS treatment to students and their families.
Nursery
The University’s on-site nursery enjoys an excellent reputation among parents and OFSTED inspectors alike. Caring and qualified staff provide a range of stimulating activities in purpose-built premises with superb facilities for babies and children from six weeks to school age.
Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts Sainsbury Centre is an inspirational public art museum at the University of East Anglia.
The Norman Foster building houses the Robert and Lisa Sainsbury Collection comprising modern work by artists such as Henry Moore, John Davies, Alberto Giacometti and Francis Bacon, as well as art from Africa, the Pacific, the Americas, Asia, Egypt, medieval Europe and the ancient Mediterranean. The Centre also hosts a number of prestigious temporary exhibitions from around the world each year.
The Sainsbury Centre galleries, café, restaurant and school of World Art Studies and Museology (ART) are used by over 150,000 people a year.
Shops
The UEA campus is home to a variety of shops, including a Post Office, newsagent, travel agent, Waterstones book shop, pharmacy and food store. Other facilities on campus include a range of banks and 24-hour laundrette.
Sportspark
The University’s £17.5 million Sportspark is now the biggest indoor sports centre in Britain, thanks to the opening of the £3.8 million Haydn Morris Sports Hall in 2009.
The sports facility boasts a state-of-the-art Olympic-sized swimming pool, athletics track and gym, as well as an extensive range of activities including aerobics, archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, climbing, cricket, fencing, hockey, indoor football, martial arts, squash, table tennis, trampolining and yoga.
Student Union
The UEA Student Union runs the prestigious LCR and Waterfront venues, as well as many other commercial enterprises on campus including the £1.2 million recently refurbished Union Pub and Bar, the Hive, the Graduate Students Club bar, and a variety of eateries, cafes and shops.
The Union also organises most of the entertainment on campus, from the freshers’ week to the end of term balls, and runs a range of sports clubs and societies, including the acclaimed independent student newspaper Concrete, campus television station Nexus UTV, and radio station Livewire 1350AM
