Uppsala has just about everything that a larger city can offer when it comes to sports and recreation and you can easily travel throughout the city by bike. There are 13 student clubs (”nations”) located in the centre of town. These clubs are a tradition dating back to the 17th century and they offer many kinds of social and recreational activities, including newspaper and reading rooms, libraries, restaurants, and huge celebrations that are held annually.
Our teaching professionals are actively involved in research, which is reflected in the education. However, we encourage an open dialogue, so you are likely to find that our teachers are less formal and have a more relaxed attitude compared to many other academic institutions around the world. We boast an international environment with excellent facilities; modern labs, wireless network access, extensive library collections and a relaxed study environment.

Uppsala is the pre-eminent university town in Sweden. Here you will live in a cultural setting with roots harking back several centuries and can experience student activities far beyond the ordinary.
In Uppsala you will live the traditional life of a student, both every day and on festive occasions, in student housing corridors and at student social clubs, called nations. Ball gowns and tie-and-tails elegance jostles with discos and pubs, and theater groups are just as self-evident as floor ball teams.
Student Clubs The thirteen Student Nations are clubs dating back to the 17th century. Each nation bears the name of a certain region in Sweden and historically it was a club for students from that region.
Walpurgis April 30, Walpurgis Eve, is the greatest festival of the year for Uppsala students, with floats running the rapids, herring lunches, parties, and much more.
