Founded in 1911, ISEG is a research-oriented institution, whose mission is to instruct capable business and economics students and to train the most skilled managers, providing each with cutting edge knowledge in the corresponding areas of interest. ISEG is one of the top prestigious and experienced business and economics schools based in Portugal, one of the three top-ranked providers in these fields of education at undergraduate, graduate and executive training levels.

ISEG distinguishes itself from its competition through a clear focus on top quality research and teaching, and through an intense relationship with the most important public and private Portuguese Institutions and Corporations as well as with the development of long-term relationships between ISEG and its alumni. Its facilities were totally renovated recently providing a top-quality and stimulating academic environment to the personal and professional development of future managers and economists.

International mobility at ISEG

The profile of the international student at ISEG is changing. Due to the wide range of the courses offered in English language, at the moment, the top nationality for the incoming students is the German one, followed by Spanish and then Brazilian students, by this order.

The majority of the incoming students are from the Management area of studies, at the undergraduate level. However, the mobility at the master level is increasing and it will increase even more with the offer of four master degrees entirely lectured in English language. The masters are the following: Actuarial Science, Economics, Monetary and Financial Economics and Finance.

Some master Engineering students from renowned Universities in Europe are also starting to choose ISEG to study at the master level, mainly at the Management fields of study.

ISEG has more than one hundred international partner Universities, like Windesheim University of Applied Sciences (The Netherlands), University of Birmingham (United Kingdom), Georg-August-Universität Gottingen (Germany), University of Applied Sciences in Saarbrucken (Germany), Tampere University of Technology (Finland), Chalmers University (Sweden), Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil), Guanghua School of Economics and Management (China), Russian Plekhanov Academy of Economics (Russia), between several others.

Services & Facilities

Francisco Pereira de Moura Library

The library on ISEG’s campus is housed in a modern 5-storey building with comfortable reading and study rooms. ISEG´s library holds the widest collection of books and materials in the areas of the economic sciences and business in Portugal. It also provides free access to bibliographic databases and statistical information. Library it collaborates with other libraries and institutions in areas such as European Union Documentation and the “American Corner” in partnership with the US Embassy in Portugal.

Bento Jesus Caraça Bookshop and other publishing services

The ISEG bookshop is run by the Student Association and it stocks books and other support materials for the courses taught at ISEG. In addition, AEISEG provides services such as photocopying, printing study materials, internet access, and document/class notes support sharing etc.

Computers

The computer system network covers all the computers of ISEG, including the classrooms and special computer rooms. Wireless access is also possible throughout the campus.

Study rooms

There are several study rooms available for student use in the library and in the teaching blocks. These rooms may be used by individuals or by groups.

Parking

There are two car parks on the ISEG campus, with about 300 places.

Student Life

ISEG provides students with access to a number of activities for personal and academic development. Students can complement the curricular component of the MBA with a varied range of themes appropriate for the needs and profile of each student.
