First-class facilities We provide a stimulating learning environment and access to state-of-the-art resources to help you make the most of your time with us.
Flexible spaces, Wi-Fi facilities and learning zones all contribute to our lively and contemporary study environment at Solent. Our courses also benefit from purpose-built facilities which enable you to develop hands-on and work-related skills.
From day one, you will have access to a virtual learning environment (myCourse) designed to help with everything from enrolment to successfully completing your coursework and writing a CV. We also use social media to keep you informed of up-to-the-minute information – like the change of venue for a lecture.
The University’s libraries are modern and spacious and have everything you need including remote access to electronic information sources (such as e-books and online journals).
Our fully networked IT Resources Centres are also equipped with Macs and PCs and include areas for group work and discussion.

Supporting you to succeedOur teaching staff are approachable and focused on your needs; each faculty also has a Support Officer to provide friendly and confidential advice.
We provide an integrated Student Support Network which offers a wide range of services in the following areas: pastoral care, careers and jobshop advice, support for disabled students and those with learning difficulties, advice on student policies, study assistance, funding advice, accommodation advice, counselling, hypnotherapy, faiths/religious support and advice, and international advice.

The Solent University experience Life on campus is certainly not all about study; we have more than 40 sports clubs, many of which enter various inter-university leagues and competitions under the ‘Team Solent’ banner, often achieving success at international, national and local levels.
Our Students’ Union is run by students for students; it has over 30 clubs and societies and can offer support on everything from money matters to health and housing.
We also encourage work in the community and our Volunteer Opportunities Service will help you find openings with local charities, public sector organisations and voluntary groups.

Student Life

Learning at the heart of a great city Southampton is the largest city in the South-East outside of London and is the cultural and commercial capital of the South. The city is always vibrant and bustling, and is a great place to live and study.

Going out – The city has some of the best nightlife in the region, so why not visit one of the 180 pubs, bars and nightclubs, or catch a film at of the city’s three cinemas.

Entertainment – The Guildhall and the Mayflower Theatre host some of the biggest names in music, comedy and drama. Or enjoy up-and-coming music acts at venues like The Joiners.

Eating out – choose from over 100 pubs and restaurants with everything from American diners, Greek taverna’s and Italian eateries.

Sport and leisure – participate in your own sporting interests or sit back and take in some live sport at St Mary’s Stadium, home to Southampton FC, or the Rose Bowl, where you can watch test and county cricket.

Shopping - Southampton is in the UK’s retail top 20; West Quay houses over 90 stores!
If you fancy something a bit different, attend one of Southampton’s ten annual events including the Beer Festival and the Mela Asian Festival.

City centre living at Solent Our six student residences are a short walk from the University and the city centre and are contemporary, clean and comfy. They offer more than 2,300 rooms, including en-suite accommodation, all with high-speed internet access points.
