The IT University building

In June 2000, Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with Carl Bro won the invited competition for a new building for the IT University.

Location

IT University building is approx. 19,000 m2. IT University is located toward the 800-meter Emil Holms Kanal in the northeastern part of Ørestad between Copenhagen and the Danish Radio's new buildings.

The building's shape

The building is shaped like a giant H. Two parallel building carcasses wrapped in a metal sheath surrounding a panoptic spaces out against what you have drawn a wide range of transparent 'drawers' in different lengths. Central compartment, which has a fine touch with the channel environment, nestled between the two town squares, a northern and a southern, and inviting space in a natural way to highway through the house.

Student Life

Student Life

Student life at the IT-University of Copenhagen is a mix of hanging out with friends and fellow students at the university premises as well as enjoying everything the city of Copenhagen has to offer.

Inspiring premises The university building is amongst the most modern and inspiring educational buildings in Denmark. Our excellent study facilities provide you with workspace for group work or individual studies after classes. Also, all students have access to a kitchenette, where you can cook a meal or just make yourself and your friends a cup of coffee.
You can spend a well earned break from your studies playing table tennis, work out in our fitness room or enjoy a drink and a discussion in our cosy student café, Analog, or the student bar, Scrollbar.

Scrollbar and theme parties Every Friday afternoon Scrollbar is open. The Scrollbar is a brilliant place to hang out with your fellow students, international students as well as your lecturers. Scrollbar often host theme parties and events with DJ’s and VJ’s.
If you are a dedicated party planner, bartender or just want in on all the fun, you can join the Scrollbar team yourself.

A healthy body - a healthy mind The IT-University has a fitness room open exclusively to students and staff at a fair price. It is also possible through USG (University Student Gymnastic) to participate in different kinds of sports. You can also challenge your fellow students in a game of table tennis or table football.

Student politics –StupIT The IT-University has its own student run political association, StupIT. The association is completely run by students and was started to promote the students interests and conditions at the university. You can engage yourself in StupIT either as a member or from outside by e.g. participating in the editing of the student magazine or arranging debates and the likes.
