Innovative, high-level courses
With world-class Graduate Schools and numerous International Master's Degree courses (Erasmus Mundus Master's programmes), the education potential at the UJF is both varied and of high quality, as well as highly international and research oriented. In addition to this, the UJF educates more than 5,000 young people every year, 500 of whom as part of a work/study programme in the field of technology (Bac +2 to Bac +5 / 2 to 5 years of university education): DUTs (Diplômes Universitaires de Technologie / University Diplomas in Technology), Professional Bachelor's Degree courses, Polytech Engineering Degree courses, Master's Degree courses etc. In the field of healthcare, the UJF is also developing highly efficient courses in Medicine and Pharmacy by taking innovative measures to make the first year of the Healthcare Degree course fairer and more impartial (including lessons with multimedia support and a tutorial system).

The Université Joseph Fourier promotes the results of the research it conducts via its private subsidiary Floralis, which manages university-industry relationships. 31 start-ups have been created in 15 years and around 50 development projects are currently in progress at various stages. The UJF also makes good use of its training potential, with more than 2,000 interns per year in continued professional education.
The UJF, along with its partners, is actively involved in 5 competitiveness clusters - Minalogic, Lyon Biopôle, Tenerrdis (new energy sources), Trimatec (nuclear and environmental technologies), Axelera (chemistry and the environment) and 2 Carnot Institutes - LSI (Logiciels et Systèmes Intelligents / Software and Intelligent Systems) and Energies du Futur (Energy Sources of the Future).
