The institute that crosses borders. Even as a student you participate in the international transfer of knowledge and technology. Your fellow students are from Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and eight further countries. You spend one semester at renowned companies in a foreign country, and you get to know the language and culture of our neighbours in the Neisse Euroregion. Our graduates are sought-after specialists on the international job market. IHI Zittau was chosen out of over 1,500 (!) applicants to be one of “365 locations in the Land of Ideas 2007.” “Germany – Land of Ideas” is a joint regional initiative between the federal German government and German businesses under the patronage of our President Horst Koehler. It recognizes innovative, creative and exemplary initiators from all sectors of society which are in a position to spotlight Germany’s preparedness for the future. Sixteen of the 365 locations in 2007 are in Saxony – and IHI Zittau is the only representative of Upper Lusatia and the only Saxon college or university to have been chosen. Saxon’s Minister of Science, Dr. Eva-Maria Stange, expressed her congratulations: “Upper Lusatia has in the International Graduate School (IHI) Zittau a centre of innovation where a cosmopolitan world view is taught and lived. The innovative strength of the Neisse Euroregion and international competence combine at IHI in Zittau.
