The Industrial Design programme integrates the following three study fields: Industrial Design,Ceramic/Glass Design and Toy/Learning Aid Design. Industrial design comprises conceptional design
strategies, sustainable design, product and systemic design as well as the design of digital products
and virtual scenery. As a Ceramic/Glass Design student, one learns to design individual pieces (studiodesign) and serial products for industrial production.
Toy and Learning Aid Design focuses on the design of objects for playing, on concepts for playful interaction and computer aided play, and on
didactic and paedagogic media and scenarios.
It is an important aim to teach students responsibility towards the functional, cultural, and
ethical dimensions of their product. At the same time, they must respect the objects´ useability as well
as its aesthetic, emotional and intellectual aspects. Students form teams to complete various projects,
they work in depth on a wide variety of subjects, and they are constantly challenged to improve
their presentation skills. Thus, they get the preparation and training necessary to successfully work
in a variety of professions after finishing their studies.Whether they choose to work self-employed
or they strive for a leading position in the coordination of design processes, they must be able to
perform on a high competence level.
