Institution Info

All Hallows is a friendly college, set in spacious grounds almost in the centre of Dublin. It combines excellent academic studies with pastoral experience and the family atmosphere of a compact campus. Students and visitors comment on the high standard of teaching, the commitment and dedication of a caring staff and the support of a dedicated Chaplaincy team. All Hallows, a Roman Catholic College, was founded in 1842 as a missionary college. The All Hallows of today is a compact multi-national College, endeavoring to mix the vision of the past with the realities facing people today. We now have 700 students full-time and part-time taking degrees validated by Dublin City University. The curriculum now includes a more comprehensive range of courses in Theology, Philosophy and related subjects for lay religious and seminarian students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The students will go on to work in the United States, Canada, South America, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, England and here in Ireland. We have devised an imaginative programme of studies which we feel caters for the needs of a wide spectrum of people. The student body is diverse and includes men, women, priests and religious. The following pages should tell you all you need to know about the College. Please use our Contact page if you need more information.

Services & Facilities

All students to the college are provided with access to computing facilities to support their studies and research.

These facilities underwent a recent upgrade with the commissioning of a new Student Computer Room, and the installation of AV equipment in many of the classrooms. The facilities and services provided by the College are enhanced each year to reflect changes in technology and the service requirements of the students.

Current facilities include Word Processing, Presentation, Email and Internet Access software. Initial training and support is provided for students new to computing.

All Hallows College library has undergone a major redevelopment, refurbishment and upgrade making it one of the finest, modern academic library facilities of its kind.

The library now occupies a total space of 531.95 sq metres, which makes it well over twice its original size.

It consists of two areas, the Main library and the Aula with its Mezzanine, Collaborative study room, and Staff offices.

The extra space has meant that the library has been able to considerably extend its range of facilities and services.

There is increased seating with 90 study desks of a generous size and adapted for laptop use. Students can access the Internet on their laptops from all areas of the library.

There has been a marked upgrade in access for students to Information Technology with 10 networked computers in situ.

The spacious, new Mezzanine area with its Internet access and printing facilities, is designed for electronic research.

There is now a designated area for self-service photocopying to cater for the increased use of this facility.

Students now have the use of a Collaborative study room for group work. This is a very welcome addition to the library’s facilities. It is in line with current thinking in academic circles and innovative in that students learn from each other.

Student Life

Liturgical celebration is central to life on campus and provides the context in which the prophetic word of God interacts with our lives. The Liturgy enables the student body to worship as a vibrant living community.

The Eucharist is celebrated daily during term time with special emphasis on Wednesday, mid-week campus liturgy.

Students are encouraged to make use of the quiet places for prayer on campus. A variety of group prayer opportunities are available which include Taize-style prayer, Lectio Divina, preparing the Sunday readings and morning prayer.

The College Chaplaincy team provides ongoing pastoral care and support for students and offers friendship and hospitality to all. The team aims to be sensitive to the needs and stresses of the academic and social life of the college student and is always available in times of need on a one-to-one basis.

The Chaplaincy team itself is made up of clerical, religious and lay members who seek to encourage each student to reach his or her full potential. Students are also encouraged to develop their talents in groups and committees such as the Student Union and Justice and Peace groups and in membership of the Course Boards.

The team also seeks to support the faith life of all its students by providing periodic retreats, faith-sharing groups and Lectio Divina, Taize-Prayer groups, morning and evening prayer and Preparing the Sunday Readings.

Creative experiences include Tai Chi, Liturgical Movement, Mime and Drama. In addition, social ventures such as table quizzes, sports, hill climbing and football offer the student an opportunity to relax with others.
