In a challenging and complex economic climate, there is an ever-increasing demand for managers with the requisite skills, understanding and acumen to tackle the difficult demands facing organisations of all sizes. If you aspire to make a significant contribution to managing and leading at a strategic level in the real world, this is the course for you.
You consider topics including finance, cross-cultural leadership and management, and issues in the global environment. You gain an internationally renowned qualification and the skills and knowledge to make an immediate impact in the workplace.
What you study
You build upon your existing management and leadership experience and skills. The course covers a core business framework involving the management of people, finance, information, operations and markets. You focus on strategic leadership and innovation, and enhance your ability to lead and manage change.
Expect a strategic focus on the major functional areas of business, incorporating an element of choice and flexibility, moving on to examine organisational strategy and current issues. You design an applied research project which leads to the completion of your dissertation.
How you learn
The course is in two Stages. Modules are taught via lectures, seminars, practical workshops and visiting lecturers, along with group work with presentations from students. Self-directed learning forms part of some learning strategies along with your expectation to undertake your own piece of unique research in Stage 2. Teaching staff adopt a range of web-based technologies to deliver module content, assess, provide feedback and communicate with students.
How you are assessed
Assessment methods vary according to the module studied and include reports, formal examinations, in-course work, live consultancy projects and presentations.
Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates will be guaranteed the offer of Associate Member (ACMI) status or, with three years managerial experience, full Member (MCMI) status from the Chartered Management Institute. Successful graduates should apply directly to the Institute to gain membership after completion of their studies.
Typically graduates move into general or senior management and strategic leadership roles, internal consultant/project leadership roles or into external consultancy roles. You build on your existing management and leadership experience and skills, and the course enhances your ability to lead and manage change.
