The Systems and Control programme offered by the University of Twente (UT) is a multidisciplinary field focusing on the control of all kinds of technical systems. It combines knowledge of the mathematics of Systems and Control with specific knowledge of its applications (e.g. mechatronic systems).

About

You will investigate ways of developing mathematical models that reflect the key features of a system by employing differential equations, inequalities, algebraic equations and logical constraints. Then, You will use advanced methods to simulate the modelled system.

During the simulations, control algorithms (e.g. using feed-forward or feedback) can be designed and tested. Depending on your specialization you will concentrate on elaborating theoretical aspects of control, or you will focus on the technology of developing mechatronic devices and systems.

There are four specializations:

  • Biomechatronics
  • Control Theory
  • Robotics and Mechatronics
  • Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

You will learn advanced theories and techniques to create applications that were not possible until now, including mobile robots, production machines, micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and biomechanical devices. The Master’s programme offers you access to world-class and state-of-the-art facilities such as our Robotics lab. It is closely connected to CTIT, one of Europe’s leading ICT institutes, and MIRA, the University of Twente’s world-famous institute for biomedical research.

Career

Typically, our graduates pursue a career in research and development, in either a corporate or an academic setting. Find out more about the career opportunities that the specializations have to offer you.

Accreditation

The programme holds NVAO accreditation.

You only need to take one of these language tests:

                                            • Minimum required score:

                                              6.5

The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The minimum IELTS score requirement refers to which Overall Band Score you received, which is your combined average score. Read more about IELTS.
