The University of Geneva is the only Swiss university to offer a full course of study in Modern Greek. The teaching focuses mainly on the current Greek language, spoken and written. It also helps to be familiar with the history, culture and literature of Greece since the fall of Constantinople to the present day. Autonomous discipline whose primary object is contemporary Greece, Modern Greek can also be designed as an extension of the study of ancient and Byzantine Greek.
