About

The MSc Climate Change, Management & Finance at Imperial College Business School provides graduates with the interdisciplinary skills required in business on issues relating to climate change and sustainability.

You will:

  • learn about the challenges and opportunities change presents to companies across strategic planning, operations, marketing, and accounting and finance
  • discover how innovation is essential in organisations in dealing with climate change
  • develop an in-depth appreciation of the science, policies and technologies linked to climate change, including the scientific basis underpinning international agreements on carbon reduction targets.

This MSc combines the latest research, academic rigour and practical relevance in an interdisciplinary range of topics. To deliver the programme, the Business School has partnered with the Grantham Institute, whose mission is to translate climate change and environment-related research into real-world impact. This programme will leverage the Grantham Institute’s many international contacts with government, industry and non-governmental organisations.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score: 7

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.   • Minimum required score (Grade C): 185

    The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

  • Minimum required score: 100

    The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

MSc Climate Change, Management & Finance is an intensive programme. It is designed for recent graduates and early career professionals with an excellent undergraduate degree who want to launch their career in business and finance in the climate change area.

Admission to MSc Climate Change, Management & Finance will be very competitive and the selection committee will pay close attention to all aspects of your application. To be eligible to apply for the programme you should normally have:

  • A quantitative undergraduate degree at First or 2:1 Honours level (or international equivalent)
  • A well-researched career plan with clear short and long term goals
  • English language test results (if applicable)

We offer a number of £10,000 scholarships based on academic excellence for entry to our MSc programmes.

All candidates receiving an offer for MSc Climate Change, Management & Finance will be considered and selected on merit. No additional scholarship essay is required.

We welcome applications from Imperial College London alumni. We offer a 10% bursary on programme fees to successful candidates with an undergraduate degree from Imperial awarded at a minimum of upper second class, or Master’s degree awarded with a minimum of Merit.
