Students following this programme may either specialize in Geomatics or Environmental Engineering with particular emphasis on sustainable development and water resources.
Career Opportunities
In addition to the classic professional opportunities for Environmental and Land Planning Engineering, studying Geomatic Engineering in depth allows to work in national or local bodies involved in cartography, land registries and collection of land data, in the aerospace industry and that of information technology applied to the management of territorial databases, logistics, planning, etc.
On the other side, graduates with a deeper knowledge of Environmental Engineering can also found opportunities in the field of international relations, large multinational corporations and in non-governmental organizations.
Basic courses for all students include: Modelling and Simulation, Statistical Analysis of Environmental Data, Natural Resources Management, Environmental and Urban Economy and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Students wishing to specialize in geomatics may follow courses as Remote Sensing, Image Analysis, Geodetic Monitoring and Navigation as well as Applied Geophysics.
Those more interested in environmental engineering may select courses on Hydraulic Engineering and River Basin Reclamation, Environmental Protection Plans and Pollution Risk, and Engineering and Cooperation or Energy for Global Development.
All engineering students, after a minimum 3-year degree of Bachelor, are entitled to submit a request to this Master of Science, students from Environmental, Civil and Computer Engineering are particularly welcome.
Also students with a Bachelor in Chemistry, Land Planning, Physics and Mathematics will be considered.
Thanks to the cooperation with public and private partners, every year all international candidates admitted to one of Politecnico di Milano M.Sc. programmes, starting during the 1st semester of every academic year, are automatically considered for different types of merit based scholarships (there is no separate application for scholarships).
