The aim of the Economics Engineering degree - the only one of its kind in Germany - is to dovetail classic economics with the right aspects of science, technology and applied Computer Science to ensure that graduates will be better equipped to deal with decision-making responsibilities in business practice.
Careful concentration on qualified, quantitative methodical training in the fields of economics, business studies, statistics, mathematics and the engineering/natural sciencesintegrated into a legal background are characteristic features of the degree course. The unique networking between economics and business engineering and technology with the subjects ofinformation technology and operations research means that the business engineer is a paradigm for highly-qualified, future-orientated graduates, who confidently master the methods of modern management and can handle the tasks and challenges of business and science in a professional way.
In the six-semester Bachelor's degree, the emphasis is on methodically qualified fundamental knowledge of economics, business engineering and technology, as well as basic law. Insight into the relevant structures and processes of all areas of the company is also a foundation block of the degree, as well as comprehensive methodical training. After that the advanced programme offers the opportunity to put learning into practice, develop it and set your own focuses. An eight-week work experience placement in a commercial and/or technical environment followed by the Bachelor's thesis completes the degree course.
The programme consists of four compulsory modules with 9 ECTS-Credits each in economics, business admistration, computer science and operations research. Four compulsory optional modules with 9 ECTS-Credits each may be chosen from the disciplines above or in the disciplines of engineering, sociology, law and respectively statistics. The programme is concluded with a final Master thesis.
Further details regarding the course can be found in the module handbook on the Faculty's website.
