In the globalized world of today, mutual intercultural understanding is of utmost importance when doing business. The Master of Advanced Studies in European and Chinese Business Management jointly offered by University of Zurich and New Huadu Business School Switzerland addresses this well-known fact by offering both theoretical and on the ground knowledge on general management in a Chinese and European context.

About

The Master of Advanced Studies in European and Chinese Business Management is jointly offered by the University of Zurich and the New Huadu Business School Switzerland and sets its focus on :
  • offering both theoretical and hands-on knowledge on general management in a Chinese and European context
  • mixing students from both China and Europe in class, thus ensuring an accelerated learning experience in intercultural management
  • offering European and Chinese faculty and guest lecturers from highly qualified professionals
  • complementing the cross-cultural learning with a practise-oriented-project in an international company, either in Europe or China

The curriculum integrates the setting of both, University of Zurich and New Huadu Business School, to offer top level courses on European and Chinese management.

New Huadu Business School Switzerland is the first independently registered overseas campus of a Chinese public business school. Professor Edmund Phelps, Dean of New Huadu Business School, is 2006 Nobel Laureate in Economics. In 2015, New Huadu Business School was nominated as one of the Top 10 Innovative Business Schools in China.
This Master of Advanced Studies program is further characterized by:

Accreditation

Module 3 - Practice-oriented project work
Participants must complete a practice-oriented project (in the form of an internship, case study, etc.) for a period of 4-6 months in companies. For Europ. students it is recommended to do the project work in China, for Chin. students in European work environments.
Module 4 - Master Thesis
Students must write their Master thesis within the last 2-3 months of the program. The thesis will be written in groups of 2-3 students. The research theses will be supervised by the program instructors.
Additional courses
In addition to these four modules, elective courses will be provided which include seminars on the latest developments in the business world and Chinese/German language classes.

Audience

The program is designed for university graduates and undergraduates from China and Europe, aiming at familiarizing themselves with doing business in Europe (Chinese students) and doing business in China (European students). Focusing on Europe and China, the program equips participants with applied knowledge in international business management and experiences in working in a diverse cultural environment.

Lecturers

The teaching staff is made up of instructors from the University of Zurich and the New Huadu Business School, of invited guests from other higher education institutions, and of specialists with practical experience in cooperation between Europe and China.

English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score: 6.5

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).

Academic Requirements

The program addresses participants who:
  • have a Master's Degree from an accredited university
  • on an exceptional basis, students with a four-year university Bachelor's degree or a three-year university Bachelor's degree with at least one year relevant work experience
  • have equivalent qualifications
Applicants must prove that they have the necessary English skills for participating in courses and writing the final MAS thesis. Applicants are expected to have an entrepreneurial spirit and an international mindset.

Tuition Fee Per Full Programme

  • EUR 27500 National

Tuition fees: CHF 30 000.which include attendance of all courses, seminars, project work, all course materials, exams and degree certificate. Travel and accommodation expenses are not included.

Funding

In exceptional cases, there is the possibility to apply for a limited amount of financial aid. To apply for financial aid, please submit the cover page for financial aid and the following additional documents:

  • written letter (including reason/justification for receiving financial aid, describing financial situation and motivation for future career)
  • income statement and proof of assets
  • transcript of academic record
