English Language Requirements

You only need to take one of these language tests:

  • Minimum required score: 6.5

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Academic Requirements

Recruitment through Aston:

Normally, a 2.1 in a degree taken in an appropriate subject at a British university or equivalent

Recruitment through the Jagiellonian:

All candidates must either hold (or expect to obtain) a BA degree from a recognised and accredited university or an equivalent first-cycle degree earned in countries where BA degrees are not offered. Candidates possessing an MA degree may also apply. While a degree in a relevant subject area is preferred, all applicants who can demonstrate interest in European Studies are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must satisfy the requirements of both institutions in order to be accepted .

For the Aston component of the Double Masters, candidates whose first language is not English must satisfy one of the following minimal requirements:

  • An English language score of 6.5 in IELTS (with a minimum of Band 7 in Writing and Band 6 in Speaking, Reading and Listening)
or
  • A TOFEL score of 105 with 25 minimum in Writing and Speaking and 23 minimum in Reading and Listening)
or
  • Pearson Academic results of minimum 68 in Writing and Speaking and minimum 61 in Listening and Reading
or
  • Evidence that their undergraduate degree was taught mainly or entirely in English
  • No knowledge of Polish is required to complete this Double Masters programme, as modules are taught in English at both Aston and Jagiellonian.
