Electronics is a broad scientific and technical field, covering everything from solid state physics to information processing by computer, via electromagnetism and the use of probability theory.
UPMC´s M1 Electronics course is more targeted, resumed by the subtitle:
"Instrumentation, data processing, radiocommunications and intelligent systems".
The course includes a common base which gives students a solid general knowledge, from which they can build on with more specific options later.
The options are:
* Communicating systems (SC)
* Captors, Measurement and Instrumentation (CMI)
* Industrial Computer Science, Imaging, Signals and Robotics (I3SR) (This option is also available as an apprenticeship)
and lead to second year specializations of the same name.
The option papers are often mutualized, which means that the choice of an option does not systematically dictate the specialization in M2.
An Nuclear Engineering option currently is being set up (in conjunction with the UPMC Master of Physics and Applications).
The common base of the M1 includes 21 ECTS and covers the first third of the year.
The options each include 39 ECTS, with one or two free papers and one 6-week-long industrial internship or bibliographical research paper.
To provide a greater choice, the university year is divided into four periods of six weeks each.
The M1 also includes obligatory business and English papers. Students must have a certified level of English to obtain their Master´s degree.
Students admitted are most often Electronics or Physics bachelor´s graduates from UPMC or other universities. The M1 is also open to students of an equivalent level with sufficient knowledge to benefit from the M1 course.
Admissions
For all candidates, admission to the Master of Engineering (Electronics) follows an examination of the candidate´s application file to verify educational history and meeting of prerequisites which correspond to a 3rd year bachelor´s level.
