There are now 1.2 million coaches across the UK reaching out to 6.25 million people from the playground to the podium (Sports Coach UK, 2004; DCMS, 2001). With such a widespread interest and involvement in coaching, it is essential that there is the opportunity to enhance and develop quality in professional practice.
This course provides students with a unique opportunity to combine studies with elite sports activities. The course enables current practitioners to develop their conceptual and theoretical understanding in the field of Sports Coaching Science. Practical skills in a range of scientific disciplines will be further developed in order to enhance the coaching process. The course requires students to critically reflect upon contemporary principles and practices in sports coaching. The course will be of interest to coaches, senior players, coach educators and students throughout Europe who have an interest in developing the game and players.
Experienced lecturers and renowned coaches will be delivering workshops, lectures, seminars and offering tutorial support. Extensive utilisation of on-line teaching and support will be a key aspect of delivery.
The course offers an exchange of methods of basketball practice that exists throughout Europe and provides students with fundamental theoretical knowledge and research skills.
Course delivery will be in English with translators provided where appropriate.
Postgraduate courses require an IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent or TOFEL of 88 (IBT) and above or Cambridge Advanced B or above.
