Programme Structure

First semester

You will study chemistry courses which provide you with the theoretical and experimental skills needed for the subsequent semesters. In the very first course, you will also meet many of the professors in different fields of chemistry giving seminars about what are the current trends in their respective research fields.

Second, third and fourth semester

During the second and third semesters, you can choose between advanced courses together with the specialization in biochemistry, such as bioorganic catalysis and molecular recognition, but also nanobiotechnology and courses in organic chemistry, depending on your interests and background. 

The programme ends with a degree project.

    The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading). Academic Requirements

A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university.

Also required is 90 credits in chemistry and biology, of which at least 60 credits must be in chemistry.

Selection: Students are selected based on:

  • a total appraisal of quantity and quality of previous university studies; and
  • a statement of purpose (1 page).
