Trends in companies and market constraints in terms of cost reductions, lead-times and continuous product improvements result in technological innovations and a complete change in the design - industrialisation - production chain based on a global approach that integrates technological, economic, logistic and corporate responsibility aspects throughout a product´s lifecycle. This continuous product and process innovation will result in controlled and sustainable development. In this context, it is a question of designing and producing innovative products and defining the necessary manufacturing processes and production resources and controlling the product flows, activities (project management) and related risks. The computer tools and virtual representations of objects use models and essential data for decision-making. The representation mode for objects (numerical model), the treatment of models (increasingly relevant, chosen based on points of view and objectives) and the management of activities and data constitute scientific barriers to be overcome.
The Master´s programme in Knowledge Integration in Mechanical Production is a 2nd year (M2) Master´s programme offered by Arts et Métiers ParisTech. It includes two courses of study: Design and Manufacturing (DM) and Advanced Production Systems (APS), which fit directly in the area of manufacturing output. Based on a scientific approach to innovation, design and production, the Master´s programme offers an education that covers the representation and formalisation of knowledge and the related technical, economic, logistic and social constraints. Arts et Métiers ParisTech offers a Master´s programme that leads to industrial R&D positions as well as positions in university research. This Master´s programme is especially focussed on international aspects. Most research projects take place in foreign laboratories. This Master´s programme is currently offered with a dual degree with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH - Stockholm) and the University of Teheran for the DM course of study and the University of Linköping in Sweden for the APS course of study.
Arts et Métiers ParisTech students who have completed the first two years of the programme curriculum. Students outside Arts et Métiers ParisTech (French or international) who have completed the equivalent of the 1st year Master´s programme (M1).
