Design can strengthen an organization's innovation capability. Would you like to work with others and become better at understanding and using the different aspects of design? The MA programme with specialization in Business and Design is a 2-year programme, developed in collaboration between School of Design and Crafts (HDK) and School of Business Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg. The program is intended for those who are interested in a designer s approach and design knowledge. How can design contribute to social, corporate, societal and organisational development? How to better coordinate and utilize different skills in a change process? How to strengthen the role of design in business development? How can a design approach be used as a driver for innovation? The main purpose of the education is to find answers to these questions. Students with an undergraduate background in art or design, as well as business, economics, humanities, technology or social science are welcome to apply. The content of this programme is suitable for a variation of knowledge disciplines and backgrounds.
The first academic year contains the following courses: -Crash Course in Business Administration (BA) for non business-students -Crash Course in Design for non-Designers - Knowledge & Practice - Design and Society - Business Analysis with an Emphasize on Contracts and Immaterial rights in Design - Design, Branding and Marketing - Design, Strategy and Innovation - Integrated Projects.
The second year starts with the Workshop Term where you will work in interdisciplinary teams on projects in collaboration with companies and organizations. You will develop the content and focus of the projects together with them. The purpose is to gain realistic insights and practical training in using a design perspective in strategic organisational development processes. What is the link between design, branding, marketing and strategic change? The topic of the projects varies according to current relevant theme and invited partner. The program ends with a graduation project during the last semester, consisting of an empirical and theoretical part.
The programme will lead to a Master of Science in Business and Design (120 hp). If you have a Bachelor in Fine Art (90 hp at least) you can opt for the MFA Master of Fine Arts in Design.
