The University of Economics, Prague (VSE) offers a two-year full-time Master´s program in Economic and Regional Studies os Latin America taught in English. The University of Economics, Prague is the leading business university in Central and East Europe (Eduniversal ranking 2011) with more than 20 000 students and 700 professors, and its graduates are highly demanded by both the private and public sectors.
Our Masters Program has an international character; our faculty list includes the presence of the distinguished Ambassador of Mexico in Prague, José Luis Bernal with the best experts in this field.
Graduates of the program Ecponomic and Regional Studies of Latin America will obtain the knowledge to enable them to analyze economic and social processes and regional development with regards to the cultural specific aspects of Latin American countries. The graduate will also be able to create strategies for public administration. The graduate will also obtain information concerning the Czech Republics experience in the field of economic transformation and restructurin, solving regional disparities and programs focused on human resource development, which could be applied in Latin America.
The subjects taught will provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience necessary in a broad area of economic and regional studies of Latin America and also for related research and business. Presentations of Latin American economics, geography, social, cultural and environmental aspects will be a part of the study program. The studies will also be focused on processes and results of integration in both Europe and Latin America.
This program offers the possibility to acquire substantial international experience and to obtain a double degree. The degrees are from the University of Economics in Prague and the second, will be obtained from the university of choice, where the student chose to study for their second year of the Masters. At the moment this dual degree option is available in Argentina, Bolivia or Chile.
The International Masters Degree Programme in Economic and Regional Studies of Latin America is comprised of 120 ECTS credits. For more information about the courses please see the section Courses overview.The programme can be completed in two years with an option for a double degree.
The courses are organized into four semesters, two of which may be completed in Latin America if the student chooses this specific double degree. The last semester is normally dedicated to the completion of final thesis.
The courses are taught in English in the Czech Republic, while in Latin America, depending on the university and program, are taught in English or Spanish. The development of intensive courses to further language skills is planned in the near future.
All theoretical courses and seminars will need to be approved, as well as the final thesis defence, which must contain an empirical reference point.

The program is designed for students from all over the Word who have completed thein bachelors education. Previous education in international relations, political science, history, law, economics, sociology, public policy, public administration, or other social science or humanities is an advantage. Students from other programs may be candidates as well.
