The Department of Engineering conducts research in response to practical demands in defence, healthcare, manufacturing, marine and service industries, which is supported by grants from the EPSRC, the MRC, the Royal Society, EU, MOD, industry and UK charities. Our ever-evolving range of specialist areas leads research students to successful professional engineering and technological careers.

Our students come from all over the UK and many other parts of the world. They are conducting research on a range of subjects including electronics, computer engineering, control and automation, telecommunications, data communications, computer networks and internet technology. Research in the field of Engineering can also be linked to: Computer Science, and Civil Engineering and Surveying.

Requirements

A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject or a master's degree in an appropriate subject. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered.

English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.

Admission to UK universities often requires that students have completed a recognized Bachelor's degree. International students should consider taking a Pre-Master to gain access to UK universities when:
