Students who decide in favour of a career in Management, including leadership positions in the Media / Entertainment sector, or are interested in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or strive for a vocational future as media producers are recommended to enrol for the International Media and Entertainment Management Master of Arts course.



The worldwide phenomena of the digitalisation of our society changes the way of interaction and therefore also the requirements for corporate communication and marketing strategies. In order to be able to keep a competitive position in the long run, companies need to develop and implement digital marketing strategies.

The English Master programme Digital Marketing combines a well-grounded management education with the newest findings for the optimization of digital communication and marketing strategies for companies. The seminars focus on the following topics:

  • Development of Digital Marketing Strategies
  • Construction of a Digital Ecosystem for all communication channels: Corporate Communication in physical surroundings/ localised, online, mobile and through digital social media
  • Development of Transmedia Marketing Campaigns
  • Digital Marketing Techniques and Instruments: Website Optimisation, Search Engine Marketing (Search Engine Optimisation, Search Engine Advertising), Social Media Marketing, Digital Content (Creation) Management, Content Marketing/ Digital Storytelling, Conversion Optimisation, Marketing Analytics, Social Media Monitoring
  • Media Planning and
  • Corporate Communication and Customer Relationship Management with Digital Social Media.

Practical Studies

The CBS study programmes always try to combine theory and practice. That is why you will be able to visit different companies regularly during your studies. Vice versa, business representatives also visit the campus to lecture about current issues and trends in digital marketing. This way you will be able to build a network of business contacts, which will make your career entry easier. Business start-ups related to the programme focuses are also supported by the Media Management Faculty in cooperation with the CBS entrepreneurship chair and the Hochschulgründernetz Cologne.

  • A completed application form
  • Letter of motivation: one DIN A4 page in English which answers the following question: Where do you view your vocational future after completion of the Cologne Business School Master of Arts?
  • A complete CV in English in tabular form
  • Copies of your first academic qualification or proof of study achievements to date (transcripts)
  • Optional: proof of a semester abroad and/or proof of an industrial placement or job experience

In order to gain admission to the Master program International Business, you need to prove English language skills. You can furnish proof by taking the Cologne Business School language test or, as an alternative, we accept the following certificates: TOEFL certificate, IELTS, etc. They must not be older than two years.
