The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT). The final, overall iBT score ranges between 0 and 120, and includes a scaled average from the four components (reading, listening, speaking, and writing). Read more about TOEFL (iBT).
You should normally hold a good honours degree from a British university (or overseas equivalent) in any subject, or a professional qualification deemed to be of equivalent standing.

We have a number of merit based partial scholarships of £1,000 available for international students starting their course in September or January.
These scholarships are available to apply for once you have applied to the University. You must be a full time international (outside the EU) taught student in the first year of your study at the University of Derby.
If you are successful, £1,000 will be deducted from your tuition fees. There are also a number of individual scholarships available for particular courses which become available throughout the year.
Only students who have received an offer from the University will be eligible to apply for a scholarship.
