Specialisation in German

The Language and Linguistics (German Specialisation) programme from Lund University focuses on the structure and use of German. Based on a long tradition, the dominant fields of study in Lund are the morphosyntax of German in the generative framework and the analysis of the German language within modern pragmatic theories. Special attention is given to the general theoretical explorations and language-specific aspects of information structure. The German language is studied from a contrastive point of view, most importantly in relation to other Germanic languages.

Master’s students of German also have the possibility of broadening their linguistic knowledge by taking courses pertaining to other linguistic fields such as phonology, language acquisition, language variation and semantics offered by other departments of the Centre for Languages and Literature in Lund.
