Topics covered include modern Capital Markets, Valuation (including options), Fixed Income, and Capital Structure. The MSc in Finance is offered by Stockholm School of Economics

We offer two specializations:
  • Corporate Finance
  • Investment Management

Every student chooses one of two specializations: Corporate Finance and Investment Management. The choice of specialization is made at the end of the first semester of the program.

Career Opportunities

Students specializing in Investment Management will acquire the necessary knowledge in investment theory, asset and securities pricing, and quantitative methods, to successfully pursue a career in fields such as portfolio management, security analysis, fund management, sales and trading, and quantitative investment strategies.

The specialization in Corporate Finance provides you with insights, perspectives, practical knowhow and a skill set that is especially relevant for careers in corporate finance within non-financial firms, in investment or commercial banking, in private equity and venture capital, or in management consulting.

                          English Language Requirements

                            The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.                             The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT).                             Required score: 600

                            The GMAT - or Graduate Management Admission Test - is a frequent requirement for admission at management and business schools across the world. The GRE score ranges between 200 and 800 and measures the verbal and quantitative reasoning of test-takers. Read more about the GMAT.

                            The recommended range represents scores typically accepted at this institution. Scores outside the range may still be considered.

                            The GRE - or Graduate Record Examinations - is a standardized test administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is part of the admission requirements at many graduate schools and business schools. The GRE score uses a range between 130 and 170 and measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing.

                          1. Bachelor degree

                          Bachelor degree with at least 60 ECTS in Social Sciences (including but not limited to Finance, Business Administration and/or Economics) and with a minimum of 30 ECTS in quantitative fields, including but not limited to Finance, Accounting and Financial Management and Economics. The quantitative fields may be outside Social Sciences. 

                          2. GMAT or GRE test result

                          3. Proficiency in English

                                SSE has a number of scholarships for students required to pay the tuition fees. The scholarship application is submitted together with the application for the program. Only applicants who fulfil the eligibility requirements for the program will be considered for scholarships.

                                The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. All applications are assessed by a selection committee, taking into consideration the relevance and the quality of the personal motivation, academic excellence, relevant extracurricular activities, program cohort diversity and fair distribution of scholarships across the programs.
