Description

The current globalisation offers many opportunities for work in international companies and abroad. It also means that competition is stiffer and that it is important to be adequately educated. Manufacturing engineering is one of the strongest areas of University West and in this one-year masters programme, you have the possibility to improve your CV, for a career in the manufacturing industry, global corporations, or for an academic career. The education offers both specialized technological knowledge as well as breadth within manucfacturing engineering, which is a necessety for leading positions in the industry.

A programme suitable for Mechanical engineering or Industrial engineering and management backgrounds

The masters programme gives an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing engineering, with strong industrial links. Regardless of whether you come from a background in mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering and management, if you fulfill the entry requirements, this programme is suitable. Students of this masters programme have access to one of the largest and most modern manufacturing labs in Sweden, Production Technology Center (PTC) in Trollhättan, featuring industrial robots and University West simulation laboratory.

Manufacturing engineering - creating value

Production means value-creation. This programme offers advanced knowledge in several production processes and in production systems that contributes to a competitive edge.

Work-Integrated Learning - WIL

The teaching is primarily academic, consisting of lectures, tutorials, group seminars, laboratory work and project assignments. The eductation has, however, a sound basis in the strong industrial research going on at PTC. This research is well integrated with the manufacturing industry.

International environment

The programme is open to foreign applicants and is adapted to the Bologna system for mobility within Europe. All teaching is done in English.

Contents

Operations management 7.5 HE-credits, Fundamental or Advanced materials and manufacturing technology 7.5 HE-credits, Robotic Systems 7.5 HE-credits, Materials and Production Technology 15 HE-credits, Automation Systems 7.5 HE-credits and Degree Work 15 HE-credits.

Requirements

Degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering, within Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering and management, or equivalent. Additionly, the Bachelor degree must be comprised of a minimum of 15 ECTS in mathematics and include a proven basic knowledge of calculus, linear algebra, and basic statistics. Verified knowledge of English corresponding to the course English B in the Swedish Upper Secondary School or equivalent.

TOEFL internet-based test score: 90
