Programme content and structure

Compulsory courses: Space and Society – Theory and Method in Human Geography, 15 credits, Advanced Method in Human Geography and Urban and Regional Planning, 15 credits, Master’s Thesis in Human Geograohy, 30 credits.

The contents of the programme can be designed according to your interest. Specializations in landscape studies, population geography, migration, economic geography and urban processes are possible.

Degree and career options

The programme leads to a Master’s degree in Human Geography. Through this programme you will develop your skills and competence to do research work, to assess research work and to communicate research work. In parallel you will obtain broad and specialized knowledge in the wide field of Human Geography.

    The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00.     The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading).   • Minimum required score: 90

Bachelor's degree with at least 90 ECTS credits in Human Geography, Geography, Urban and Regional planning or equivalent. English B/English 6 (Swedish Upper Secondary School course) or equivalent.
