The programme aims at preparing engineers to develop and use information technology tools so as to satisfy the widest variety of applications. Compared to the Bachelor of Science, Master of Science students acquire greater ability to model and solve complex problems, integrating different advanced skills and technologies. The programme comprises three tracks: Communication and Society Engineering, Sound and Music Engineering, Data Engineering.
The teaching language is English.
Career Opportunities
The information technology engineer operates mainly in companies manufacturing and distributing information technology and robotics equipment and systems, companies providing products and services with a high information technology content, private organisations and public administration using information technology to plan, design, manage, decide, produce and administrate.
The MSc in Engineering of Computing Systems has the twofold objective of guaranteeing a high professional qualification and of providing strong engineering skills. Such characteristics are crucial for gaining the flexibility and ability to adapt to new technologies, which are emerging in the rapidly evolving panorama of
Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The three available tracks emphasize the interdisciplinary aspects of the information field:
All tracks are strongly innovative and at the same time guarantee a broad possibility of didactic exchange with the MSc programmes of the Faculty of Information Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano. The students community in Como Campus is truly international, with more than forty countries represented.
The teaching material is mostly in English (books, lecture notes, papers, websites, multimedia CDs).
Prospective students with a Bachelors Degree in a related area and 15 years of total education are required to undergo a selection process that will take into account their curriculum as well as their background.
Such selection process follows the general regulations of the Politecnico di Milano and the specific rules of the Faculty of Information Engineering. Candidates whose career is deemed worthy will be summoned for a (possibly online) interview.

Scholarships for the Academic Year 2012-2013
The Politecnico di Milano operates 3 scholarship schemes, which provide financial support for full-time Non EU and EU* students enrolled in our Master of Science programmes:
Important note for EU students: EU students can be considered only for Platinum and Gold scholarships if they apply and consign a complete dossier (including the language certificate) by the final deadline set for Non EU students.
The number of Platinum, Gold and Silver scholarships awarded varies from year to year, a small number of Platinum scholarships and a larger number of Gold and Silver scholarships are available.
Scholarships Assignment criteria:
The selection criteria are based on the evaluation of your previous education and its match with the prerequisites of our M.Sc. programmes. Obviously GPA (grade point average) and academic achievements (including the portfolio when requested) are of utmost importance. Last but not least a well written motivation letter will highly contribute to a positive decision by the Scholarship Awarding Committee
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
