IFA Paris and POLIMODA have joined their efforts to create a course in Luxury Brand Management allowing students to pursue postgraduate education in Shanghai, Florence and Paris within a year. This unique opportunity allows students to build career skills and gain a full understanding of the luxury industrys fastest emerging market, Shanghai, China and experience two of Europes oldest and most dynamic luxury and fashion centers, Florence, Italy and Paris, France.
Despite the world economic crisis, European and American luxury brands have thrived, mostly due to the growing demand from emerging markets around the world. In a report published by the World Luxury Association in 2009,China has replaced th eUnited States to become the worlds second largest luxury goods consumer, only second to long time leader Japan. Many experts predict that China will become the worlds largest luxury consumer by 2015. With the growth in the luxury business, the skills required to manage a luxury brand has become more specific and specialized.
This multidisciplinary course will explore the unique factors involved in building and maintaining a luxury brand in the competitive global environment and covers a wide range of courses including consumer psychology, emerging markets in luxury, luxury merchandising, luxury retail management, international negotiation skills, and luxury distribution as well as many other luxury business modules. During the course, students will have the opportunity to work on industry sponsored projects in cooperation with international brands, attend luxury and fashion events, listen to guest speakers, and visit leading brands stores as well as design studios.

The course is delivered through a variety of engaging and interactive learning methods (lectures, case studies, role play, field visits, company presentations, essential readings, critical analyses, experiential games) supported by our Learning Management System (LMS) across the different study sites.
We are committed to students personal and professional development through a teaching methodology that will gradually enhance learning, creative writing and communications skills, the ability to work independently and in teams, computer-aided presentational skills as well as analytical and evaluative processes, including self and peer assessment.
It is expected that there will be a natural progression towards improved understanding, confidence, skills and realization of abilities and personal objectives towards career goals and employability.
Students will be required to identify and articulate their own distinct academic and vocational focus within the course specialism in line with the aims and expected learning outcomes of the course framework. Throughout the course, students will have regular contact with staff members for tutorials and will also be guided by the Course Director at critical points in the production of major project work assignments.
The program employs a variety of instructional methods:
Lectures are designed to challenge students by exposing them to the inner workings of the fashion industry as it operates today. The lecturers will lead students through valuable in-class activities and encourage discussion in order to have fruitful and engaging interactions.
Self-study is a pre-requisite at Postgraduate level that suppose autonomy and personal management. Students will be asked to do preparation work in order to make the most out of each session. Throughout the course, students will have to complete a set a learning activities to gain full understanding of the topics studied in class. Self-study will be actively supported by our Learning Management System (LMS). Capstone Project
The Capstone Project is usually done as a team project about a subject chosen by the student and validated by the academic management. The work usually takes the form of a written thesis or dissertation, but may also be a report, a journalistic piece, or mixed media. The Capstone Project requires organization skills and is developed through negotiation with tutorial support to help you develop appropriate focus and monitor progress. It will be assessed as a main component of study and evidence of progress, time and team management skills and achievement of learning outcomes. Industry Contact & Collaboration
During the course students may have the opportunity to work on industry sponsored projects in cooperation with international brands, attend fashion events and master-classes in fashion services, listen to guest speakers, and visit leading brands, stores, design studios and factories. To enable students to achieve their best results, the IFA Paris faculty addresses the individual needs of each student. Beyond sharing their extensive experience and teaching students the requisite theory and technical skills, our instructors also pass on invaluable personal traits: enthusiasm, passion and confidence.
The course is open to those holding a university Bachelor, preferably in marketing, business administration, media & communication or fashion design. For students who lack an undergraduate education, at least 5 years of relevant working experience is a prerequisite for enrollment.
Preferably two years of working experiences in a related field.
English fluency is required. Non-English speakers shall provide an IELTS score. An overall score of 6.5 is preferred.
At least 2 year(s) of work experience are required.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
