The main aim of master Master in Business Administration in Arts and Cultural Events is to provide a strong theoretical background in relation to culture and creativity coupled with a managerial vision related to the field of design and cultural business start-up. The range of institutions and phenomena considered includes the classical heritage sectors and museums, the world of media and communication and the fields of material culture.
The Master in Business Administration in Arts and Cultural Events wants to train professionals able to handle the tools of culture in a sustainable way both culturally and economically. The students can find a working opportunity in cultural institutions or museums but also will be prepared to create their own opportunities, knowing how to launch a start-up, operate in the broad field of non-profit or manage a cultural project.
The program of the Master in Business Administration in Arts and Cultural Events is divided into three modules.
The first one provides basic knowledge in the matter of art history and economics necessary to those ones operating in the world of the arts. The second part is dedicated to the understanding of the current context: new markets and international dynamics; art quotations and emerging artists; fair trends; the world and the psychology of auctions; museum politics; restrictions related to art circulation and trading.
Finally, the latter part of the program provides the opportunity to observe first-handily the dynamics governing the world of the arts and interacting with its operators. Such module aims at delving into the strategies of cultural marketing, the evolution and functioning of the fair system, and the managing of galleries and auction houses.
It also provides competences for a correct usage of important tools for trading, such a show to stay informed, how to read specialized press, price indexes, and new technology applied to this sector.
The out-coming profiles vary significantly from art dealer to art advisor; from an operator within an auction house to an expert in art communication, and so much more.
One or Two year programs at the end of which the student will earn a private Master degree from IED. Access to the Master program is open only to those who have previously completed the undergraduate course of study or have relevant work experience.
IED Online Admission process foresees four steps:

Applications are open until the beginning of the course however to comply with its strict level of quality, and in order to guarantee the effective interaction among teaching staff and students, IED has a restricted number of available places to its Master courses. To be assured of having a place in the class applicants will have to complete the enrolment process as specified in point 3.
Non-european students must also check with the local Italian Diplomatic Authorities how to apply for a VISA. Procedures may take long time and follow specific time frames therefore applicants are suggested to start the application on time as IED will issue the necessary documentation to apply for a VISA upon completion of enrolment as specified in point 3.
