About

The Communication Studies programme offered by University of Twente (UT) is an internationally oriented programme, which is entirely taught in English. It leads to a Master of Science (MSc) degree. Combining communication with organization, technology, and design, we aim to educate the communication professionals of the future. 

All societal challenges and all organizational issues are inextricably interwoven with communication. Communication Studies focuses on the way people interact, share information, persuade each other, collaborate, and build lasting relationships. It involves sensemaking and storytelling, connecting, bonding and bridging, perspective-taking and empathy. It is about identity and image, and the need to be authentic, true and honest in times of increasing transparency. 

Communication professionals have to act in an ever-changing media landscape, with an important role for various social media and a wear-out of traditional media. Several societal and technological developments have only increased the importance of communication in professional and personal life. At the same time, the field of Communication Studies is more complex and challenging than ever before. This calls for an academic programme that educates the communication professional of the future.

                        The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.

                        The TOEFL – or Test Of English as a Foreign Language – offers an internet-based test (iBT).                       • Experience with the use of SPSS or comparable computer-based statistical packages
                      • Copy of table of contents of textbooks
                      • English summary of thesis (BSc or MSc)
                      • Sufficient mastery of the English language.
