The aim is to design architectural projects with a point of departure in Nordic Architecture. Fields of importance in this regard include tectonic design as well as sustainable architecture. Tectonic design integrates structural, functional and aesthetic parameters whereas sustainable architecture integrates design, aesthetic, technical, functional energy and comfort parameters in an integrated design process shaping high level low energy architecture.
It takes two years to attain a master degree in Architecture, and during this time you will meet a wide range of teachers who will present you with new knowledge in key areas.
The educational programme is internationally oriented, and attracts Danish as well as international students. Furthermore the educational programme offers the opportunity of an internship or/and an external study as well as study trips inside and outside Denmark during the semester.
The Master of Science in Technology (Architecture) programme is for students with another relevant bachelor degree than the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Engineering (Architecture and Design).
It is a master’s degree programme on the same academic level as the Master of Science in Engineering programme, but based on a more varied academic student profile.
The Master of Science (MSc) in Technology (Architecture) is the most commonly sought after study programme, for the international students studying at Architecture at Aalborg University.
An internship gives you the opportunity to collaborate with a company, institution, etc. regarding your project work. Furthermore an internship enables you to use the theoretical skills you have acquired during Msc01 and Msc02 hands on.

You can also choose to do an external study at another university in Denmark or at a university outside Denmark. The courses followed at the foreign university have to be approved by the Board of Studies as an integrated part of your education at Architecture & Design (in the form of credit transfer).

Furthermore the education has a close connection and collaboration with companies, institutions etc., which among other things gives the student the opportunity to collaborate with and create close connections to these companies, institutions, etc. This is beneficial for the project work as well as for future carrier opportunities.

The Msc programme in Architecture at Aalborg University, Denmark is divided into four semesters running respectively from September to January and from February to June (January and June partly reserved for exams). Thus, students will typically complete the programme in 2 years.
Each semester in Architecture is sub divided into three or four course modules and one project module. All courses are conducted in English.

The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading). Applicants with an equivalent Danish or foreign degree at a similar level may be admitted subject to individual assessment by the study board. If your bachelor degree does not qualify directly for admission to the master’s programme, the Admissions Office will forward your application for approval by the relevant study board.
